Hello! My name is Kat,
And my fitness story begins 13 years ago.
I had been working in the fashion industry post grad, and I found myself in the throws of a full on quarter life crisis. Simply put… too much work, too much partying, and not enough nature, soul work or self care. That’s when I found Fred’s Team, the non-profit running group that raises money for lifesaving cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering. I had been running leisurely at the time and completed a couple of half marathons, but I wanted more. So in exchange for a guaranteed spot in the 2011 NYC marathon, I signed up to run and fundraise with Fred’s Team. Suddenly I was on a mission and I had purpose. I found myself eating more healthfully, making new like-minded friends, taking care of my body, and excitedly sharing my weekly progress with my valued donors! Friends and family started asking me for fitness and nutritional advice and I loved it. I inspired others to get moving! This was the catalyst for me. Shortly after the marathon, I turned in my self proclaimed title of Fashionista for Fitness Guru, and I never looked back!
Over the years, I have been a sales rep, master instructor, general manager, and marketing consultant for various NYC gyms and studios- most notably, Equinox, BYKlyn Cycle & Fitness, Club Pilates, and Cycle Bar. I have acquired many certifications, including a Pilates mat certification, 3 Schwinn training certifications, and a TRX qualification. I also completed Hunter College’s Fitness Instructor Program.
Having such a strong background in business and sales to begin with, my path to management within fitness studios was inevitable. I’ve managed 3 Brooklyn based studios and as such, have conducted my own sales & management specific trainings for the staff as well as created my own instructor mentorship program for aspiring instructors. I’m proud to say that all of my studios are up and running successfully so to this day, as a result of the groundwork I laid for each of them.
Now, I want to help other studios find their footing in this ever changing industry! So many folks open studios thinking that it will just sell itself, but that is usually not the case, especially with franchise studios becoming more and more prevalent. I’ve found “the one size fits all” sales process does NOT work for all. That’s where I can help! Allow me to help coach you, your instructors and your sales team to become the fitness studio you have dreamt of owning!
